MiLgårdarna. A vision of something better

"It must be possible to create something better", was a thought that struck Lennart Rohlin, when he, as the program manager at MiL Institute's long leadership program, was using different course facilities in the 70s. Often impersonal conference hotels or guesthouses with an abundance of personality, but without professional meeting facilities. And with the risk of being disturbed by other conference groups, hotel guests or festive events.

Ideal would be a meeting environment for focused work without disturbances, where the professional is united with the personal. Where we, as users, could put our own personal touch on shaping an environment intended for cooperation, development and learning. MiLgårdarna was created in 1980 based on this need.

The name "MiLgårdarna" originates from the fact that Lennart Rohlin was also the founder 1977 and until 2009 the CEO for MiL Institute, "Management in Lund". Today many companies, organisations and other institutes consider a MiLgårdarna venue their own private conference venue.

After the purchase of the present MiLgården on Romeleåsen in 1979, Borgen in Klippan was added in 1985, followed by Klippan Ladugård in 1990, nowadays known as MiLgårdarna in Klippan (Borgen, Villan, Magasinet and Stallet). In 1997 yet another old farmhouse was purchased, this time where the river Lagan splits into two streams and creates the island on which this MiLgård is located. Hence the name Ön (Island).
